USD 2024: League of YES (Nassau County)

NATURE AND PURPOSE OF SERVICE SITE:

The League of YES’s mission is to establish and sustain baseball programs for people (of all ages) with disabilities. Their objective is to provide an opportunity for those individuals to experience the joy and benefits that come from playing our national pastime.

NOTE: All volunteers will meet on campus in front of the St. Thomas More Church before going to service sites. Please plan to arrive early to sign in and receive your t-shirt. Light refreshments will be served. Transportation will be provided to off-campus sites.

SERVICE TASKS:

Each League of YES player is assigned a BUDDY for each game. Your role is to protect the player from balls, assist the player in batting and running the bases, and to be a friend on and off the field. Once you participate, you see that being a BUDDY allows you not only to make a difference in a special child’s life, but also to create a positive awareness in yourself.
