NATURE AND PURPOSE OF SERVICE SITE:
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul - LI (SVDPLI) provides financial, material, emotional and spiritual support to Long Islanders through a network of over 1,200 volunteers. The work of SVDPLI is supported by sales at two thrift stores, individual donations, grants and fundraising events. The 15th annual Friends of the Poor Walk is an outdoor celebration and fundraising event that brings together supporters of SVDPLI in a fun and festive way!

NOTE: All volunteers will meet on campus in front of the St. Thomas More Church before going to service sites. Please plan to arrive early to sign in and receive your t-shirt. Light refreshments will be served. Transportation will be provided to off-campus sites. 

SERVICE TASKS:

USD volunteers will assist with setting up and staffing the volunteer check-in table; directing volunteers from parking locations to the check-in area; distributing water bottles and snacks to walkers; cleaning up the park after the event (as needed); providing lots of support, encouragement and cheering to all the walkers throughout the event!
