Student Awareness/Special Instructions

All students must attend a volunteer orientation. The orientation begins at 9 a.m. and should last no more than 2 hours. Please call the volunteer coordinator to set up a date for orientation. If a message is left, please leave a clear message including your name and phone number so your call can be returned. Once you attend the orientation, you will give your availability, a schedule will be made, and you will be able to start at your earliest convenience.

Note: If you cannot attend scheduled service, you must call them to let them know. If you don't show up and did not call to let them know that you need to reschedule, you won't be able to reschedule at that site.

Students must:

  • Complete a volunteer application form
  • Attend an orientation
  • Proof of medical records for an updated PPD shot
  • 2 reference letters
  • Be informed that there is to be NO FOOD and NO FLUIDS given to any resident at any time. Also, if students are not sure of any situation at anytime during the visit, they should reach out to any of the recreation staff.

Lastly, NYS Department of Health has implemented that every volunteer must get the flu vaccination. Documentation of vaccination must include the name and address of the individual who ordered or administered the vaccine and the date of vaccination. This must be given to the assisted living before starting service. If you cannot or do not wish to receive a flu shot a mask must be worn at all times while in the facility.
