Reading Partners Program

About

Nature and Purpose of Agency

Reading Partners is a national nonprofit organization that works to expand life opportunities for elementary school children (6-10 years old) in underserved communities by empowering them with strong literacy skills. At each of its 20+ school sites across New York City, Reading Partners transforms a dedicated space within the school into a reading center and trains community volunteers to work one-on-one with students who are 6 months to 2.5 years below grade level in reading.

Tasks Available for Students
Tutoring: Students will work one on one with a student at their preferred school site using our scripted and easy to follow reading curriculum. No prior experience is necessary to become a tutor and all materials are provided by Reading Partners. We offer initial training as well as ongoing support and coaching.

Time Requirements

Flexible: Monday through Thursday from 8am-4pm
